Who is responsible?

Heerlen 2033 is the bid of Heerlen-Parkstad to become European Capital of Culture. Stadsregio Parkstad is responsible for the personal data collected through this website (the data controller under the GDPR).

The culture check

We store which photos you choose, together with the photos you were shown. This shows us how visitors experience culture in Parkstad. We link this to a random code kept in your browser, not to your name. We do this in the public interest: preparing the bid.

The questions

All questions are optional. We only use your answers, and your name, email address, town and photo if you provide them, to prepare Heerlen 2033. The legal basis is your consent: you decide what you send.

Contact and submitted photos

We only contact you if you tick the box for it. We only use a submitted photo in the culture check if you give permission with the separate box, and after we have looked at the photo. Only send photos you took yourself or are allowed to share, and where the people recognisable in them agree. Under 16? Ask your parent or guardian for permission first.

We record which consent you gave and when. You can withdraw your consent at any time; we will then remove your photo from the culture check and no longer contact you.

Cookies and visitor statistics

This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies. We count visits anonymously with Vercel Web Analytics: how many people visit the site, how they got here and what kind of device they use. No cookies are set and a visit cannot be traced back to a person.

Who else processes the data?

On behalf of Stadsregio Parkstad, the website, answers and photos are stored with the hosting services Vercel and Neon, with agreements on security and confidentiality. Where they process data outside the European Union, they do so under the safeguards the GDPR requires. We never sell your data and do not share it with others.

How long do we keep your data?

No longer than needed for Heerlen 2033: at the latest until the end of the title year, 31 December 2033. If Heerlen is not chosen as Capital of Culture, we delete your data no later than six months after that decision. After that we delete your answers, contact details and photos. If you withdraw your consent earlier, we delete your data as soon as possible.

Your rights

You may view, correct or delete your data, and withdraw your consent. Email heerlench33@gmail.com. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
